Arts, A/V Technology, and Communications provides students with an understanding of the diverse career opportunities in the field, emphasizing the necessary characteristics for success, such as creativity, a solid background in computer and technology applications, strong academic foundations, and proficiency in oral and written communication. This course may fulfill the required technology credit. Open to grades 8-12, it offers 1 credit.

Digital Art and Animation consists of computer images and animations created with digital imaging software. Digital Art and Animation has applications in many careers, including graphic design, advertising, web design, animation, corporate communications, illustration, character development, script writing, storyboarding, directing, producing, inking, project management, editing, and the magazine, television, film, and game industries. Students in this course will produce various real-world projects and animations. The six strands include creativity and innovation; communication and collaboration; research and information fluency; critical thinking; problem-solving, and decision-making; digital citizenship; and technology operations and concepts.

Fashion Design is a foundational course that provides students with an overview of the fashion industry and the essential elements of design. The course covers key topics such as the design process, fabric selection, and garment construction, enabling students to develop their creative skills and gain practical experience. Students will learn to create original designs, exploring various techniques in sketching and color theory. Additionally, the course introduces students to the history of fashion, emphasizing the evolution of styles and trends. By the end of the course, students will have a basic understanding of fashion design principles and the ability to express their ideas creatively, making it an excellent starting point for anyone interested in pursuing a career in fashion or simply exploring their passion for style.

Arts, Audio/Video Technology, and Communications focuses on equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in the career cluster. Students will develop an understanding of the industry, emphasizing the fundamental elements and principles of visual art and design. Open to grades 10-12, this course offers 1 credit and requires Principles of Arts, A/V Technology & Communication as a prerequisite.

Advanced Graphic Design & Illustration is a two-hour class that enhances students' knowledge and skills for success in the Arts, Audio/Video Technology, and Communications career cluster. Students will deepen their understanding of the industry, focusing on the fundamental elements and principles of visual art and design. Open to grades 10-12, this course offers 2 credits and requires Graphic Design & Illustration I as a prerequisite.

Practicum in Graphic Design course provides advanced, hands-on experience for students preparing for careers or further study in graphic design. Building on foundational skills, students tackle real-world projects, creating a portfolio that demonstrates their expertise in visual communication, branding, and multimedia design. They refine their understanding of typography, color theory, and layout, while mastering tools like Adobe Creative Suite. Collaboration, client-based assignments, and constructive feedback help students develop professional-level skills. By the course’s end, students are equipped with a polished portfolio and a strong grasp of industry workflows, ready for college or entry-level roles in design.

Advanced Commercial Photography requires students to develop a technical understanding of the commercial photography industry, emphasizing the production, promotion, and presentation of professional-quality photographs. This course can be taken as a one-hour class or a two-hour class with an optional lab. Open to grades 10-12, it offers 1-2 credits and requires Principles of Arts, A/V Technology & Communication as a prerequisite.

The Adobe Certified Professional (ACP) is an industry-recognized credential that demonstrates proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud applications:

• What it shows: You have the skills and knowledge to work in a digital media career
• How you get it: Pass a 50-minute proctored exam that includes tasks in Adobe software and multiple-choice questions
• Who offers it: Certiport, a Pearson VUE business, develops and delivers the exams
• How long it's valid: Three years from the date of issue
• Who it's for: Best suited for ages 14 and up.

There are multiple ACP certifications, each tied to a specific Creative Cloud application. For example, the ACP credential for Visual Design validates skills in Adobe Photoshop
